I have been traveling to San Diego off and on for business for the last 2-years and this place beats them all. So much more fun than staying in a hotel or a motor lodge like I had been doing. The location is great because it's within walking distance of downtown (and there is plenty of parking). But this particular house just has so much character it really adds an element of fun hard to find anywhere else. It's an old Victorian (Mansion?) that has recently been restored to all its former glory... and then some! I stayed on the first floor. I had a spacious room with two beds (one queen and one twin, I think). The room had two doors and could also be divided by privacy curtains if you wanted. I had the room all to myself and took the Queen bed and was very pleasantly surprised. (I have a bad back and often sleep poorly while on travel. But instead I was perfectly at ease for all of the 6-nights I slept there. A rare compliment from me on that account). In general the SD House also has a slew of little touches that add to the overall convenience. Fresh ground coffee and a french press were stashed just outside the bedrooms next to the door leading straight to the patio. Next to that was a fridge we stocked with juice, fruit and cream for coffee. And the bathrooms (there are two down stairs) are also something to behold. One had a giant spa/tub and shower while the other also had a shower as well as an old fashioned high tank/pull chain toilet... I can't remember the last time I saw one of those in full working condition. And because some of my business colleagues were staying on the upper level I had the chance to visit the rest of the house. Every room is truly unique and luxurious in its own way. The wifi worked perfectly throughout enabling us spread out and work wherever we felt comfortable. Just a fun experience to spend a few moments relaxing in each of the different rooms. We made full use of the kitchen every single morning and most evenings as well. (I'm talking full meals for 6-adults). We even christened the grill on the patio out back. A perfect place to gather outside and enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather. Next time I travel to SD I will stay in the SD House. Though I might have to try one of the other rooms on the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th level. Just a fun place to stay. Highly recommend this for families (w or w/o kids) and business travelers alike.
